No trip to Northern Vietnam could be complete without visiting Quang Ninh province. This province has one of the wonders of the world with probably the most stunning scenery in Vietnam – Ha Long Bay.
The Bay’s tranquil beauty encompasses 1550 sq.km dotted with well over 1,600 limestone islands and islets, many of them without names. Bizarre rock sculptures jutting dramatically from the sea and numerous grottoes have created an enchanted, timeless world. The sails of the junks and sampans gliding on the Bay add further to the beauty of the scene. The Bay was declared one of the UNESCO’s World Natural Heritage Sites.
This morning we depart from Hanoi around 08.00. After more than 3 hours driving including a stop-over at the Humanity Center to donate money to the children who are the victims of Agent Orange, we arrive in Halong Bay at noon. We jump straight onto our boat, eat a delicious, fresh, seafood lunch and spend about 4 hours cruising this secluded bay. During that time we will have the opportunity to visit the spectacular Heaven Palace cave, crammed with stalagtites and stalagmites. Weather permitting, we can swim from our boat in the bay. We will return to Hanoi in the late afternoon.
